Sonny Briggs is an incorrigible gambler who has gone one step too far. His daytime job of being a limo driver isn't enough to feed his unsavoury habit and now a loan shark wants his life in return for his unpaid debts. Pursued by Carmen, a beautiful assassin, he hides out in a hotel casino but soon catches the attention of Joseph, another mysterious killer who offers him the ultimate gamble – if he can stay alive for 24 hours being hunted down by Joseph and his men, he gets to pocket a hefty 2.4 million dollars. If he doesn't accept the wager, he will be framed for murder and face the possibility of prison.
With no other choice, Sonny accepts the terms and embarks on the run for his life. However, unknown to him, the unscrupulous Joseph has planted a tracking device on Sonny's coat, and can pursue him to every corner of the world. Worse still, Carmen has managed to locate him and is back on the hunt for his life as well. With two killers on his tail, Sonny is beginning to find that this might be one wager that simply does not pay off.
