It's a rainy New York morning when the picture perfect existence of Conrad Cain (Timothy Hutton, Kinsey), a self-made millionaire with a long list of enemies, and his well-to-do wife Ellie (Dana Delany, China Beach) is torn apart. The reason? Their 15-year-old son Leopold (Will Denton Palindromes), a quirky kid whose innocence makes him the perfect target, has been kidnapped on his way to school. In the aftermath, Virgil (Mykelti Williamson, Boomtown), Leo's bodyguard and first line of defense (even after the kidnapping), is left to die.
Desperate to find his son while keeping his own closeted skeletons hidden from view, Cain enlists the services of Knapp (Jeremy Sisto, Six Feet Under), a "professional" investigator who works outside the law's strict rulebook to retrieve kidnapping victims and guide families through the grueling process, and his able partner and ex-Interpol computer analyst, Turner (Carmen Ejogo, Lackawanna Blues). Working opposite Knapp and his team are Special Agent Latimer King (Delroy Lindo, The Core), an experienced FBI agent who postpones his retirement due to a vested interest in this complicated case, and his colleague and antithesis, Agent Andy Archer (Linus Roache, Batman Begins), who only knows how to play by the rules.
As everyone knows, time is of the essence if there's to be any chance of recovering Leo alive. Yet, as those who Conrad left behind on his rough and tumble road to success begin to emerge from the shadows, Knapp's failure to crack another child abduction case that eventually drove him out of the FBI comes back to haunt his search for Leo. And as Ellie's wealthy and politically-connected father looks to insert himself into the investigation, Agent King finds his authority being undermined by political forces beyond his control.
In the small Mexican town where he is being held, and where his chances of survival are rapidly shrinking, Leo's only hope is to contact his family and somehow manage an escape. Back in New York, even arresting one of the kidnappers and enlisting him in an effort to ransom the boy fails to provide a lead to the whereabouts of the crime's masterminds, nor any insights into their shadowy motives.
With both time and options running out, the search becomes more desperate with each passing day. As Conrad's shaky past and Ellie's powerful family connections collide with the relentlessly painful memories of Knapp's own history and King's determination to solve the case his way, Leo struggles to stay alive as his kidnappers look to use him as leverage in their own twisted scheme in KIDNAPPED.
Created by Jason Smilovic (Karen Sisco), with executive producers Michael Dinner, (Invasion), Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, and David Greenwalt (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
